Campsite. safety tips: part 1-food, water, tags

Camping in the Woods can be one of the most gratifying experiences, which are available for those who stress the above the bustle of everyday life, or in the vicinity of the city. The danger of the contemporary lifestyle and environment to drive themselves to the slow pace of the forest. Crime, pollution, careless drivers, identify theft. Who needs it.

Seeking a safe haven against the pitfalls of "civilization", must also be borne in mind that nature is full of its own set of hazards given caravan. Let's look at a few and what can be done against the risks.

In part 1 of this two part series on food safety, ensure that you have clean water to drink and to avoid ticks.

Food safety

The bacteria can attack many kinds of foodstuffs, in particular the high protein and moisture, such as milk, milk products, eggs, meat, poultry, fish, crustaceans, cakes, piškotky and potato salad. After preparation, these foods must be kept either hot (above 140 degrees Fahrenheit) or cold (below 45 degrees Fahrenheit). Between two temperature ranges of lurking danger.

The man who does not have the resources to maintain the food products that can easily ruin outside of those data on the thermometer would bring is on the way at all. It would be much safer and garden goodies.

Posted in food before the trip and to be protected in plastic before the Frost, because ice can trap harmful bacteria. For example, although the ice pulled from frozen stream in winter can help keep food cold that should never be allowed to touch the food, custom.

And whether eating food from picnic table or sitting on the ground, always a dining room with something clean, like a plastic tablecloth.

Spoiled food, should be the suspicion that you may be be disposed of, rather than eaten. It's too great a risk.

Clean drinking water

If you're thirsty, there is nothing like the cool, clear glass of water. At home is normally relatively safe, our tap water, although many people choose to filter by one means or another to improve the prospects of the safe drinking.

In addition, the purified water for us, however, it was estimated that a large part of the surface water in the United States fails to meet government standards for income security.

When camping without their own water (or sufficient supply) and not the camp of land which have been cleaned, running water, which are available, you will need to take additional measures to protect against water contaminated with bacteria and viruses.

In principle, there are four options for achieving this objective. First, you can perform in the camp. The other three require the preparation of the head to the camp.

· Boil water-heat the water to boil and suspected that continue for a few minutes. After cooling, it should be the consumer.

· Iodine liquid or pills-instructions which explain how to use iodine drops for certain quantities of water and for what period of time.

· Filtering – most micro organisms can be filtered depending on the materials used in the filter and filter construction units. When the purchase is that the guidelines clearly state what will and will not be filtered.

· Cleaning-cleaning will remove or kill any dangerous bacteria born on water. Use this method, the water should be carried out by machines at least several times to drink.

Avoid marks

The ticks seem harmless on the surface. But they are small, have laws that one very ill with Lyme disease. They can dig the way to skin a man very easily without warning when rested on the tree or walking tracks. Once on the skin, tags will be lair in the way and are not easily removed.

Before you head into the forest, you must minimize the opportunities the poor blood must find a way to your skin through clothes. Tuck in any clothing you can: shirt, pants, shorts, socks and your feet in the sleeve of a shirt over the top edge of the gloves (if the weather is very cold, gloves).

In addition, spray on your clothes a good insect repellent, which has a high percentage. Insect repellent may be placed on any sporting goods and most general retail outlets.

After returning to camp or rotating into the tent for the night to check your body, visually and with his hands, looking for any small bumps, which may be indicative of ticks, which landed on or single embedded into the skin. Have someone else carefully examine the hair (they run through their fingers) and scan easily, elsewhere, such as the back.

If you find that the tick has dug itself into the skin, immediately (but carefully) remove the tweezers. Get her as his feet as much as possible, make sure to extract the whole body. If you are unable to do so, it would be better to leave the camp for the time to visit a doctor than the risk of infection.

In part 2 of this short series we'll continue our reflection on camping safety tips, focusing in particular on campfires, wild animals and dangerous activities in the forest.
